Fighting with the feed

Reactions:
Well, as you can see in my post below I am battling with modern technology to make a working feed featuring only German Geoblogs to ease finding them for outsiders. For some odd reason Amphibol's blog occupies all the clip even though there are others that should be coming instead but only show up on the 2nd side of the feed side. Perhaps this will remedy itself once newer post are being added to those blogs. Anyways, all these German Geoblogs, except mine, are on German of course but I think they deserve a chance to be seen nevertheless.

With my feed, sometimes when I add a new blog all of its posts go to the top regardless of their date - I think it must be an RSS formatting issue or something. If you added Amphibol's blog last, this is probably the same thing, and new posts will order correctly from now on.

Now I need to start learning some German, I guess...!

I added my own blog last right because Amphibol's blog always came up consuming all the space. Now it still does somehow. I'll leave it with that though and will look at what happens once newer posts arrive from other blogs. Thanks for letting me know about this issue!

I hope it's possible to limit the feed to show only my blog entries from the "Geologie" category. Otherwise, I might accidentally shift the focus from "German Geoblog" to "(Thai) Cooking Blog". (More of the latter to come soon...)

I will see what I can do fj but I won't mind some Thai recipees either as you know. :D

It does not seem to work fj. I can only find feeds for comment, single posts but not for chosing only "Geologie" tags.

I thought I've read that Google Reader could filter feeds based on keywords or something like that. I have now checked myself. Alas, it doesn't seem to offer this possibility. Perhaps I've confused it with Yahoo Pipes...

Well, as far as I found out it DOES work IF the other blog is in blogger. Yours is hosted on wordpress if I am not mistaken. That's why it does not seem to work. A shame. :(

Wordpress offers feeds for categories, I just found out. So you could use

feed://blog.effjot.net/thema/geo/feed

instead of the “normal” feed. (I hope that the link works; blogger.com didn't let me use feed://, only http://. But it should be automatically changed.)

This will work until I'll cook something geological. ;-)

take a look effjot! i think it works. right now all the old posts of your blog will the feed but it will settle in soon. looks like it does indeed work.

It's nice that it works. I just feel rather embarassed because my whole bunch of second-rate posts flushed out all the good things. Hopefully you, Gunnar, Lutz, the scienceblogs.de people etc. help to weed out that FJ monoculture. ;-)

It seems to have worked – no cashew nuts…
