Work is ok. Still a bit stressed but now putting data points on the maps. Once that is done I'll return outside in 3 or 4 days to document in more details some good outcrops.
The foto is me fully equipped for work outside when there is good weather. Sorry for erasing my face. I'm not that extroverted, yet. How do you look like fully equipped?

where's the six pack of beer?
Excelent!!! You look like a Super - Hero, you have to make a MEME for this topic!!!!
Greetings from the peruvian morreins
Patricio
Interestingly, when I am out in the field collecting snails, I carry more or less the same equipment, including an acid bottle for the same reason you carry one, except for a rock hammer. I also carry lots of bags and vials for specimens & I am assuming you have them also.
Joe, the consumables are safely stored in the car. ;)
Patricio, consider yourself tagged for a meme!
Aydin, I only carry vials when I am panning stream sediments for heavy minerals. Right now everything I find is large enough (unfortunately. 3 samples and I can hardly carry the back-pack) for a sample bag.
Interesting meme potential. Will have to consider getting dressed for the field. Should I add the snow field gear, too? ;)
Interesting indeed SF! Add whatever you feel is appropiate!
Hi Mathias,
I just wanted to say hello. I'm sitting in front of the PC in our hotel in Adorf. The first four days were fine but since the day before yesterday it has been raining or snowing all day long. Now, I finally understand what you mean when you complain about snow. Fortunately, my group has nearly finished mapping. The other groups rather not.
I've also found out about when and where our course is going to take place. I'm going to tell you when I'm be back in Berlin.
Greetings
You studied in Freiberg for a while, so I can see definetly a "J.W.Schneiderian" touch in your "field couture".
Were is your Camera? this excellent for a Meme, in a few days I'm going to the field, I'll try to take nice pictures.
keep in touch
I forgot to mention the camera. I carry it on the belt on my right hand side. It cannot be seen on the foto.
LG;
How far do you have to walk from your car? Is it far enough to have to carry some toilet paper, food and water?
When I did field work for my M.S. mapping in volcanic rocks in southern New Mexico, 20+ years ago, I had to walk more than a mile from my truck, carrying among other things a plane table, tripod, alidade box, a stadia rod with its own small tripod, food, water, t.p., rock hammer, 35 mm camera,...
Sometimes I had a field partner, sometimes I was alone. That's when I really felt like a pack mule.
(I saved the beer for when I got back to the truck in the afternoon.)
on-the-rocks: Usually, when I go I will not return to the car until 8 hours later. So I always carry a bottle of water and some small stuff to eat - and some paper tissues that I only need to blow my nose though. Right now I work alone all the time and I have to admit it is more fun when having a work partner. Espacially when the weather is bad which it is again this week. I don't drink so much beer when I work alone. It's no fun alone.
Hrm, I usually have to add "hardhat" and "safety glasses" and "fire retardant coveralls" but other than that, looks like you have the whole dress-for-(field)-success thing down pat!
